How to change your shortlink domain

Last updated: August 26, 2026

You can activate a new shortlink domain from the Shortlinks page in Switchboard.

How to buy a new shortlink domain

  1. Go to the Shortlinks page.

  2. Click New Domain in the upper-left corner.

  3. Enter the domain name you want to use and check availability.

  4. If the domain is available, select Add Domain.

You can then choose to set this new domain as primary (the default) and archive older ones that you do not plan on using again. Archiving a shortlink domain does not deactivate all the previously created links. Shortlinks are purchased and renewed on an annual basis (Switchboard makes a decision to renew based on shortlink activity or inactivity).

What to know before adding a domain

  • Some URLs are not eligible for activation, including certain domains that end in .us or domains that are too costly.

  • Each organization can add a maximum of 4 domains in a 30-day period.

Before using the domain

After adding a domain, wait for it to finish activating and test it before using it in any broadcast or blast. It usually takes 30–60 minutes for a new domain to go live.
