What is sticky sender?
Last updated: July 12, 2026
Sticky sender is a feature that ensures when you text an individual from a specific sending number, all subsequent broadcasts to that same individual will come from the same number. This feature is now disabled by default to help ensure optimal message deliverability.
Why is sticky sender turned off?
As a part of a larger effort to understand sending behavior and deliverability across the ecosystem, our data team has observed a recent change in how the latest operating systems are impacting engagement rates across sends. Both Android and iOS are filtering messages on devices more aggressively than they have before. This filtering can lead to a gradual decline in engagement over time, since it doesn’t affect your entire audience all at once.
While the exact filtering criteria is not public, our investigations have found that it is much more likely in certain situations:
After many messages from the same 10DLC number, with no engagement from the recipient. Turning Stick Sender OFF should help greatly with this scenario, since messages over time will be spread across more numbers.
After many messages that include the same shortlink domain, with no engagement from the recipient
Why would I turn on sticky sender?
It creates consistency by maintaining the same phone number for each contact throughout your conversation history
Some voter contact organizations want all messages from a given broadcast to come from a consistent sending number.
How to disable sticky sender
Sticky sender is managed in "Organization Settings". You can see and manage all your phone numbers for a given organization as well as enable/disable sticky sender. By default organizations always have sticky sender enabled.
Once disabled, your messages will be distributed across your available sending numbers. This does not guarantee the same sending number will not be used on multiple occasions, but it does limit the occurrence.
How does inbox sending work with sticky sender off?
Recipients will always receive inbox replies from the most recent broadcast's sending number.
What if I want to turn sticky sender back on?
Moving forward your recipients will only receive messages from the most recent sending number used.
