Getting Started with Texting: Sending Number Requirements

To send text messages with Switchboard, customers must use either toll-free verified or 10DLC registered sending numbers. Until then, they will see a warning that their organization is not configured to send text messages in the product.

Until the end of 2024, customers used to be able to send using local unregistered numbers, but due to industry-wide compliance requirements, that is no longer allowed. Sometimes, customers that used to send with us in 2022-2024 are confused why they can no longer send or need to get a sending number when they were able to text before.
